LOGIC supports ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE in the implementation of an IP-SMPTE2110-based broadcast infrastructure in Unterföhring

LOGIC media solutions is supporting ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE in converting its broadcasting operations to a modern IP-based infrastructure. This conversion to IP-ST2110 technology includes the first sub-area "News", which is located in the new building. A key aspect of this project is the implementation of SDN. After an intensive test phase with various providers of control software for broadcast IP networks in 2022, Nevion's VideoIPath was chosen. The project was launched in collaboration with "BFE Studio und Mediensysteme GmbH" and will be finalised in 2024.


Nevion's VideoIPath takes on the role of SDN orchestrator to address the Cisco infrastructure via its NX API and to enable end device control via specific drivers or NMOS. VideoIPath also offers northbound interfaces such as its own REST API, Ember+ or other router protocols to control and integrate the system via an existing broadcast controller. This means that the workflow for operators remains almost identical, making it easier to work with the system.


In addition, the necessary training for ProSiebenSat.1 employees at the various required skill levels took place as part of the project. LOGIC provides individually prepared workshops for this purpose, which take place directly on the end customer system. On request, these training sessions can also be held at the LOGIC Media Training Centre in Mainz (LMTZ).

We are extremely satisfied with the VideoIPath SDN solution from Sony/Nevion, which we implemented together with Logic Media for our ST2110 IP environment. The flexibility and control that the Software Defined Networking technology offers us convinced us even during our tests before the actual project. The intuitive user interface enables our engineers to manage even complex tasks efficiently after a short familiarisation period. The simple scalability of the product means that our infrastructure can grow without any problems.
